Underdiagnosed Grief in Illness

This workshop expands upon the notion of disenfranchised grief and the interplay of loss for individuals and families struggling to cope with an illness. Participants will be able to identify the six types of underdiagnosed grief in illness, and how to apply an assessment framework to work with patients and families.

Punching Bag: The intersection of body and stress.

This workshop will focus on the intersection of body and mind when dealing with stress in our lives. By the end of the presentation, participants will walk away with an understanding of the psychological and physical connection of stress and resources to assist them.

Health Literacy: It is a Social Justice Issue

This workshop is designed for healthcare organization who seek to improve their understanding of the role of health literacy, social determinants of health, and psychosocial needs. Participants will obtain valuable information and be more equipped to address health literacy gaps.

Your Implicit Bias is Showing

Let's talk about implicit bias in the healthcare setting. What are they? How do they show up? What can we do about them? Should we ignore them? This introductory workshop will look to answer this and more questions. 

This isn't a stage: Exploring Grief 

This workshop will over the history of grief counseling, and how we have come to understand that grief is not a stage. By the end of the presentation, participants will obtain valuable tools and resources to assist them while they embark on their healing journey.

My name is Olivia Rivera-Marmara 

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New Jersey with over 20 years of experience working in the field of health social work. I have worked with all age ranges, including pediatric, maternal health, adults, and older adults. I have also worked in outpatient and inpatient settings, emergency room, intensive care units, and in palliative care.

I specialize in Grief Counseling, Perinatal Bereavement, Perinatal Anxiety and Mood Disorders, and Generalized Anxiety.
